and Key Focus Areas
What you will learn
This one-day course in small animal ophthalmology covers corneal ulcers, uveitis and glaucoma, with focus on clinical symptoms, diagnostic work-up and treatment options.

A refresher on relevant ophthalmic anatomy, physiology and ocular dynamics provides the foundation for the course. You will also learn a clear, step-by-step approach to the neuro-ophthalmic examination, helping you distinguish ocular disease from central neurological conditions.

All topics are illustrated through interactive case presentations, with a strong focus on clinical decision-making: what can be managed in your own clinic, what constitutes an emergency, and when referral is recommended.

Course program
  • Corneal ulceration – diagnosis and treatment: medical management or surgery?
  • Uveitis and glaucoma – assessing intraocular pressure and identifying underlying causes
  • Clinical decision-making – interactive discussion of selected ophthalmic cases
  • The neuro-ophthalmic examination – six key steps made simple
  • Emergency or referral? – practical guidance for daily practice
Course outcomes
After the course, you will be better equipped to assess common ophthalmic conditions, make confident clinical decisions, and determine when treatment can be initiated in-house and when referral is indicated.
